What is a sub-base?
The two most common sub-bases are Department of Transport (DOT) MOT Type 1 and MOT Type 3 crushed Limestone. Type 1 has a maximum size of 63mm down to dust and a Type 3 is an open graded 40mm unbound mixture down to dust with reduced fines.
